A Father's Day Ode
On This Day in American History - Today, the day honoring fathers is celebrated in the United States on the third Sunday of June. June 16, 2024.
In the dawning light, when the world’s still asleep, There’s a whisper of strength, a promise to keep. Through the day’s warm embrace and the night’s soft lull, He guides with a hand, steadfast and full. In laughter and tears, in joy and despair, He’s the rock by the shore, always there. He’s the whisper of wisdom in each gentle word, The unbroken link in life’s delicate cord. In the fields of life’s journey, he’s sown seeds of care, His presence, unwavering, a beacon so fair. Through the challenges faced and the storms that may rage, He stands as a fortress, unwavering in his age. He’s the one who imparts the lessons of time, The lessons of courage, of love, and of rhyme. In each moment he gives, in each lesson he shares, He molds the foundations on which future dreams stare. From his hands flows a strength that nurtures and guides, Through the darkest of nights and the sun-filled tides. He’s the compass of hope in the journey ahead, In the hearts he has touched, in the stories unsaid. So today we lift our voices and sing with delight, To honor the fathers, both gentle and bright. For in the future’s embrace, their legacy stands tall, In the hearts they have touched, in the stories that call. In the symphony of life, their tune lingers still, A harmony of strength and of love, a powerful will. So here’s to the fathers, who guide and who care, In every smile and tear, they’re our solace, our heir.
